It’s not the rarest – in fact it is probably one of the longest continually produced series in Rolex’s history, running from 1962 until 1989 – however it is considered to be the epitome of the classic dive watch. -ref. 5513 1. Rolex ref. 1680 single red Red Submariner (produced through until 1973), are by far the most collectible. In total seven dial variations of the Rolex Red Submariner 1680 were produced with subtle differences in typeface, the positioning of meters versus feet of depth rating, and other intricacies, but across the board that rare and subtle touch of red on the dial makes these variants much more desirable amongst collectors. - ref.1680 single red 1. ref.1665 The SeaDweller was born in the 1960s out of the collaboration with COMEX a French deep sea diving company, and the NASA of the deep seas. The new model was called reference 1665 and based out of the existing Submariner model. This was evident since a Submariner’s thin case was used for the early Sea-Dwellers and a Helium Escape Valve (HEV) was added to be able to withstand much larger depth ratings. -ref.1665 double 1.
